S & T Racing Team

We are a family-based stock car racing team, based out Mundelein, Illinois. We race at Rockford Speedway in the NASCAR Whelen Weekly Series “Roadrunner Division” (unmodified V8 American passenger production vehicles). We also periodically participate in 4 cylinder Enduro races hosted by the Midwest Enduro Series.
 

 

 S & T Racing has three members:

·        Michael Shorten: Co-owner and driver

·        Angie Shorten: Co-owner, business/marketing

·        Matthew Talbot: Pit crew

Race car driver

  Michael Shorten

  Professional IT Project Manager by day, night-time garage mechanic
  and weekend short track racer.

  Father of four daughters and one son. Currently resides in Mundelein, IL

 

“Racing started as a hobby, as a way of learning and doing something I had always dreamed about. Now it’s become a weekend passion. I love to work on the car, to get in front of the fans, learn more about racing and put on a great show. There is nothing else like it!”

 

91 Race Car

·        1979 Chevrolet Caprice
·        350 CID Engine

This car has an excellent history - it has been the track championship car twice at 141 Speedway up near Green Bay. Jason Raban and his father sold the car to pay for college, and we're the lucky buyers!

109 Race Car

·        1996 Dodge Neon 
·        2.0L SOHC Engine

S & T Racing obtained this machine midseason to replace the original #109 Nissan Sentra. This car consistently races well and is very competitive. Its bright colors and performance make it a great, entertaining, fun car to put in front of the race fans.
